Greetings everyone! The intense NYC heat finally broke as the rain cooled down the city. Our A/Cs are taking a much-needed break with a cool(ish) breeze finally flowing through the apartment. How are you doing?
As the above photo shows, I’m now the proud owner of a working typewriter! My husband found this on the city streets for $50. He bought it knowing that I’d want it whether it worked or not. I mean, what writer doesn’t want a typewriter in their office?! Luckily… it freaking works!
I’m having a blast learning how to write on this magical machine with no WiFi. It’s also quite humbling to realize that decades of writing on computers have completely ruined my ability to spell. There’s no spellcheck or autocorrect on typewriters, y’all!
There’s also no “1” or “!” so I had to learn that a lowercase “L” doubles as a “1” and apostrophe + backspace + period = ! Typewriter math is the only math I like, tbh.
